The Care Code project for Philips’ Personal Care group was one of the first exploratory projects to investigate the “sense and simplicity” brand promise. GRO was invited to work with Philips Design to bring a broader perspective to the project and was responsible for the design of the entry-level beard trimmer and hair dryer.
Our philosophy was to reduce features, details and colours in order to focus on what is important, in this case the trimming head and comb adjustment detail.
This standing hairdryer is always to hand and ready to use. The simplicity of its sculpted surfaces suggests the smoothness of the airflow, without overcomplicating the product.
The project’s focus was to create clear design guidelines for the Philips Personal Care group. These example designs were a by-product of that exercise and were created to help illustrate opportunities and make recommendations more tangible.
