anonymous kettle
A trend for minimalist kitchens does not extend to the visually expressive appliances we place within this domestic environment.
A pure and anonymous cylinder when not in use, and functionally explicit when in use.
The handle and the lid are made as a single part. As the handle is lifted it opens the top for filling and pouring. The water-level window is discretely hidden under the handle and is only visible when filling the kettle.
reduction kettle
Simplifying surfaces and minimizing details to create a clean kettle identity. Our aim with this concept was to remove physical details, while not compromising functionality.
A sweeping part-line runs through the body and wraps around the handle. This part-line effortlessly integrates the water level indicator and cool wall (this separates the handle from the hot water).
A touch sensitive on/off switch illuminates through the material surface within easy thumb reach.
ply toaster
Wood is often used in kitchens for its practical and emotional qualities. This toaster uses a steam bent plywood casing both for protective heat insulation, and for its warm, human appearance. The material refers to other objects in the kitchen space such as a knife handles, kitchen work surfaces or wooden chopping boards.

The plywood surround is contrasted with a discrete, touch-sensitive control panel and a stainless steel inner core and lever.
ply kettle
The traditional ceramic water jug has been refined and perfected over thousands of years. Its design is elegant, simple and pours perfectly. This kettle design borrows from this vernacular object.
The body would be made in polypropylene plastic with added chalk to increase the weight and quality feel of the product. The handle is made from two materials - a steam bent plywood handle and a soft rubber inner layer. It is designed to be visually lightweight and soft in the hand.
The on/off button features a small digital display to indicate the amount of water and water temperature in one simple detail.
The power base is almost completely covered when the kettle is placed on top, with only the power cable being visible. This gives the kettle a lighter, floating effect and further simplifies the appearance.
