Lack of simple and effective cable management makes offices appear cluttered and untidy. Offices require storage that is flexible to adapt user’s diverse needs.
The design solution offers two pieces of furniture. One can accommodate two large PC’s and cabled peripherals and the second is for files and personal items. A simple and effective cable management solution clears the floor of unwanted cables.
A static cabinet contains the PC and a cable management tray. Removing the top cover reveals a space for a power block, transformers and excess cables. The second cabinet contains four drawers and has wheels for easy manoeuvrability.
When placed together the two cabinets form a clean, discrete whole.
The cabinets are cut and bent from a composite sheet that gives contrasting-colour surfaces and structural strength. Holes at the back corners both ease manufacture and provide practical openings for cables.
concept two
A second design explored simplifying the bending process. Colour is used to create lightness and a graphic expression.
The static cabinet can contain two Standard PCs with surplus cable management space at the top.
Metal sheet bending and a tubular supporting frame greatly reduces the cost of manufacture.
GRO is looking for a Partner to mass produce these designs.
